Welcome back to Final Festivus XI, a news show to discuss the HorizonXI private server news and player content.
Before I start, I ask you to follow the HorizonXI and FFXI rules as it relates to these news items. Don’t use this as a reason to go out and bother anyone. I’ve attempted to keep all names redacted as much as possible.
I skipped last week for 2 reasons: the first being the Patch 1.1 was delayed until April 14 so not much news to cover. The second being the passing of a friend, Hateless Gaming. I’m linking his GoFundMe here (https://www.gofundme.com/f/memorialfuneral-costs-for-a-fallen-brother). He was hit by a drunk driver and died instantly at the scene. It’s tragic and really had me all fucked up last week, hence my completely lack of playing and engagement. I know this is a FFXI stream but I still want to give a shoutout to the most wholesome EVE Online nerd.
Last Saturday was April Fool’s Day! The HorizonXI staff had some fun by changing folks’ race and spawning themselves as giant NMs. The screenshots were hilarious and people who got mad about it only added to the humor. You can see myself as a Tarutaru with size comparisons to other races.
For actual in game news, patch notes last week were pretty solid for delaying Patch 1.1. The big one was more fixes for black screening/r0 issues.
Additionally, there were lots of player complaints about conquest issues. Those seem to have been addressed and this week San d’Oria has taken the glorious northlands!
For follow-up, we’ve talked a lot about ClaimShield in prior shows, and it looks like some more fixes came in. Hopefully, there are less issues with it now.
That covers last week’s patch notes. This week, we did not get any patch notes per se, but we did get an event! The Easter/Egg event is implemented and everything is full of egg spam.
I’m having a blast collecting and trading eggs so it’s definitely worth checking out. There is an old guide (https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Egg_Hunt_Egg-stravaganza_2006) some folks are using and then collaborating in a Discord thread (https://discord.com/channels/933423693848260678/1093907064595693628/1093907064595693628). I’ve copied a few of the comments/findings below to make it easy, though these could always change. I’ve kept all the names in so the folks doing the work can get the credit. The element for day thing does work, just not for all the days. Orphic Egg is confirmed in game.
Similar to the April Fool’s event, people are already complaining. Ignore them and enjoy it, I know I am!
For player news, there was a birthday announced in Discord a few days ago. The streamer, SamuraiJake, took it on himself to decorate a cake and sing happy birthday. You can check the video here (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1785742010?t=04h45m29s). I’ve captured some of the screenshots below, so shoutout to Bilstein and happy birthday!!!
For player “drama”, there was a call for help on Kirin in sky. I put drama in quotes because this is probably a player messing up on accident. The call for help prevents anyone from receiving loot. Pretty tedious fight to have a CFH accident on, especially so close to clearing the fight.
For player shoutouts, there’s a nameless individual running the HorizonXI /yell website (https://horizonyell.live/). This is not related to the HorizonXI team, but rather an independent site. It refreshes in real time and has a filter function to make for easy searches. I highly recommend using this while HorizonXI staff make their website more user friendly in the meantime. This website is one of the reasons I haven’t been doing the /yell streams as much.
Shoutout to the player Giovanni, who ironically leads the LS TeamRocket. These folks helped me with some end game content and were super chill the whole time. I have lots of social linkshells or else I’d be tempted to join this one.
Hopefully this has caught you up to speed with the latest happenings on HorizonXI. Next week is the planned Patch 1.1 so hoping for no more delays here. Anyway, that’s all for this week. Take care and see you next Friday o7
