Mythwrecked is a cozy sandbox fetch quest game featuring the ancient Greek mythology. Yes, I was instantly sold and couldn’t wait to play immediately on release. Below is recording of my playthrough and written feedback, no need to stress about spoilers!
If it’s not obvious from the art, the developers took a different approach to portraying gods. It’s a refreshing change of pace compared to the cliche tropes from other media. The main character, Alex, ends up stranded on an island and act like a decent person who wants to actually help people before leaving. This contrasts with every other main character who begrudgingly agrees to do random fetch quests just to escape, rather than find joy in helping others.

As the Mythwrecked story progresses, the island slowly comes to life and the story expands on what happened to the island and its characters. The fetch quests and puzzles are simple, adding to the feel of a cozy game. There are no fights, no bad guys, and really no way of messing things up. You progress at your own pace solving puzzles and riddles and turning items in to the NPCs to learn their stories.
If you’re an achievement hunter, you can hit 100% completion with one playthrough, making it stress-free. The devs included lots of lore within the various items you collect, even if they are unrelated to main story.
Mythwrecked has the familiar feeling of a farming sim game with the time of day changing, the NPCs moving about, and a home base where you can rest. However, the game gives you save points throughout the map, almost excessively, and you can easily pass time as needed. I rarely had to run to and from my home base while playing.
The story keeps you guessing up until the last 30 minutes of gameplay. I was oblivious so I wasn’t able to guess, which I’m usually good at doing. However, the final “twist” was clear if I had been paying attention and draws everything together. There’s even a potential hint for a sequel at the end!
Overall, Mythwrecked is a solid game with a cute story and cozy gameplay. The only thing to improve would be additional voice acting for the characters and their lines, which would seal the deal for an indie game. Highly recommend for the cozy gamers!
P.S. Yes, you can pet the dog ♥
